Maserati joins the Boat?

Maserati’s Leap into the Maritime World with the Tridente

Unexpected story, while we know Maserati (Stellantis) is trying its best to ensure a smooth EV transition for its lineup, with the most recent model being the Gran Turismo Folgore we talked about in this article. This time around Maserati has decided to dip its toes in a niche rather unexpected, Maserati is making a… Boat??

In recent years, automotive giants have increasingly ventured into the world of marine vessels, blending their expertise in luxury and performance with the serene beauty of the seas. Maserati, a name synonymous with Italian elegance and high-performance vehicles, has now joined this trend, unveiling their first electric powerboat, the Maserati Tridente. This venture into the marine world underscores Maserati’s commitment to a zero-emission future and expands their luxurious touch to new horizons.

A Collaboration for the Future

Maserati’s latest creation, the Maserati Tridente, is the product of a collaboration with Vita Power, a UK-based marine technology start-up dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of boating. Vita Power’s mission aligns with Maserati’s vision for sustainable mobility without compromising on performance and elegance. The Tridente embodies this shared vision, representing a significant step towards eco-friendly maritime travel.

Design and Specifications

The Maserati Tridente is a 10.5-meter electric powerboat designed for day cruising on lakes and coastal waters. It boasts a peak power of 600 horsepower (approximately 600 PS) from its advanced electric powertrain, powered by a 252 kWh battery pack. This setup allows the Tridente to reach a cruising speed of 25 knots and a top speed of 40 knots. Notably, the boat can recharge in less than an hour using direct current, thanks to Vita Power’s dedicated marine fast-charging infrastructure.

Constructed from carbon fiber, the Tridente is both lightweight and robust, finished to the highest standards by the craftsmen at Hodgdon Yachts, an American boatbuilding company with over 200 years of experience. Hodgdon Yachts specializes in superyacht tenders, ensuring that the Tridente is crafted with exceptional attention to detail and quality.

Comfort and Luxury

The Tridente is designed to accommodate up to eight passengers in its versatile cockpit, which can be configured for dining or high-speed cruising. Passengers can relax on a spacious sundeck, complete with a bathing area featuring a shower and ladder for swimming.

Maserati’s Electric Vision

The introduction of the Tridente coincided with Maserati’s Folgore Day, an event dedicated to marking the brand’s official entry into the electric era. The Tridente, showcased during this event, is a testament to Maserati’s ambitious plans for an electric future. Alongside their new electric boat, Maserati has also rolled out several zero-emission vehicles, including the GranTurismo Folgore, GranCabrio Folgore, and the Grecale Folgore, the brand’s first electric SUV. By 2025, these models will be joined by the MC20 Folgore, one of the first electric supercars of its kind.

Looking Ahead

While it remains uncertain when the Maserati Tridente will go into full production and become available for purchase, it remains clear that Maserati’s collaboration with Vita Power to create the Tridente powerboat is a bold and exciting venture opening new horizons for the brand as it highlights its commitment to innovation, luxury, and environmental sustainability, setting a new standard in the world of electric boating. As Maserati continues to push the boundaries of what is possible, both on land and at sea, the future looks bright and green for this iconic Italian brand.
