Genuine Ferrari Testarossa Spare Parts

The Ferrari Testarossa made its debut in 1984 at the Paris Auto Show and quickly became an iconic symbol of the 1980s, thanks to its appearances in the 1984 TV series “Miami Vice” and Sega’s 1986 video game “Out Run”. Testa Rossa, which means “red head” in Italian, refers to the red-painted cam covers of the car’s 12-cylinder engine. The name pays tribute to the 1957 World Sportscar Championship-winning 250 Testa Rossa sports racing car.

Designed by Pininfarina as a replacement for the Boxer series, the Testarossa featured a distinctive, visually striking design. The car had a softer, more rounded front end, deeply straked door panels, and very wide rear wings that housed twin mounted water radiators, which received their cooling air via the door intakes.

One unique feature of the early Testarossa’s exterior design was the single high-mounted side-view mirror, known as the “flying mirror”. This was a result of a misinterpretation of a European law regarding external rear-view mirrors, and after many complaints, Ferrari decided to revert to double low mirrors. This mistake has never been repeated.

The rear-mid engine design also helped to keep the car’s centre of gravity in the middle, which increased stability and improved cornering ability. The standing weight distribution was 40% front and 60% rear. The power from the 4.9-liter flat-12 engine produced 380 horsepower and 361 ft-lb of torque, enough to propel the car from 0-60 mph in just over five seconds and achieve a top speed of just below 180 mph.

Originally, the Testarossa came with magnesium central spline “knock on” wheels, but Ferrari added 10-inch-wide alloy rear wheels and changed to five-bolt wheels over the years of production to improve traction.

Experienced Ferrari Testarossa parts supplier

Produced from 1984 until 1991, the Testarossa underwent two model revisions between 1992 and 1996, resulting in the 512TR and 512M models. Nearly 10,000 cars were produced, making the Testarossa, at the time, one of the most mass-produced Ferrari models.
